Getting to and from Chania Airport
The airport is up on the Akrotiri plateau and every road out of it winds down towards Souda Bay before reaching Chania in 25–30 minutes. The KTEL bus meets the flights and goes straight to the city bus station, which is the right start for anyone continuing to Rethymno, Kissamos or the south coast, and the taxi rank has fixed tariffs to every resort on a board outside arrivals.
The resort strip runs west of Chania along the coast, Agia Marina and Platanias first, then Gerani, Maleme and Kolymbari, 30–50 minutes from the airport. East of the city is Georgioupoli and, an hour away, Rethymno. There is no bus from the airport to any of them: change in Chania, take a taxi, or pre-book.

KTEL airport bus to Chania
The KTEL Chania–Rethymno airport bus leaves from outside the terminal roughly hourly, timed to the flights, and runs to the central bus station on Kydonias street in Chania in 30–40 minutes for €2.50, tickets from the driver. The station is a five-minute walk from the old town and the harbour, and it is where the coaches to Rethymno, Heraklion, Kissamos, Elafonisi and the south-coast villages start. The timetable is posted at the stop and changes with the season; late-night arrivals are not always met.
